Belgrade, Masarikova 4
The Officers’ Association building, also known as the “Kluza” building, was built in 1908. according to the project of architects Svetozar Jovanović, Danilo Vladisavljević and Vladimir Popović. This imposing building, built of stone and brick in lime mortar, is one of the most significant examples of art nouveau architecture in Belgrade.
The building has a basement, a basement, a ground floor and two floors, and it is composed as an independent building. Its facade reflects a clear functional division – the side wings, with smaller openings, have a more traditional appearance, while the central part is modernly shaped with large window areas that extend through several floors. Art Nouveau style is particularly evident through pronounced verticalism and rich decorative plastic – floral motifs, female figures, decorative consoles and forged iron bars.
One of the most impressive elements of the building is its dome, which is one of the largest and most beautiful in Belgrade, and was made by tinsmith Milan Ilić. During its long history, the building has gone through different phases – from the original department store for officers, through the famous store “Clues”, to later commercial uses.
As-Stan is proud to have had the opportunity to do a complete reconstruction of this historic building, where a special challenge and honor was the restoration of the magnificent dome. With our work, we contributed to the preservation of one of the most important Art Nouveau buildings in Belgrade, restoring its original splendor and authenticity.
